Managed Consultancy:

Managed consultancy is what BSSL believes to be the future of the growing recruitment market. It provides the client with a professional and dedicated resource to resolve a growing difficulty in recruiting IT professionals. Bear in mind in the year 2000, 1 in 20 positions could not be filled (lack of skilled resource) in IT, by the year 2002 it is alleged the number will have risen to 1 in 5! BSSL provide a true consultancy service to its clients, taking away the headache of recruitment and providing a seamless solution to a recruitment need.

There are three main scenarios where a client will benefit most from a "Managed" service and they are:

  • Tight time frame for a specified number of personnel to be recruited - A recruitment drive, which could be due to the launch of a new product or service, another area would be start up companies. Companies will benefit from a professional service where by the "management" of the whole process will allow for realistic recruitment targets to be met.
  • Companies who are having problems recruiting staff – BSSL would analyse the whole process from start to finish to determine exactly where the process/procedures are breaking down. Sometimes it comes down to the fact that the company/opportunity is not being sold properly or that the company is not in-line with market rates.
  • Companies that do not have a dedicated recruitment resource – If companies do not have an in-house recruiter, then the fact that the company may have to recruit a number of IT staff may then prove to be overwhelming and result in the process falling down. A "Management Consultant" would resource the need/requirement to a successful conclusion by managing the whole process from start-to-finish. This is also commonly known as outsourcing.

Retained Assignments:

Retained assignments are usually used when a client has a need to fill a high profile or difficult-to-fill position. The client would retain BSSL's services, in effect buying our time/resource, to become the dedicated resource in filling individual positions. Due to the nature of retained assignments they are very labour intensive and provide the client with the best candidate in the market not on the market. Many methods may be used in this process, at BSSL when working on such assignments head-hunting is the favoured method as it produces the best results.

Contingency:

This is by far the least used service at BSSL. Contingency is where by the client only pays BSSL if we put forward the successful candidate and they accept the position on offer. This method is a numbers game and does not build strong/loyal alliances with companies. BSSL will only use this method to prove to a client just how good we are at what we do, with a view to the next assignment being a Retained or Managed Assignment.
